Carolyn is a native of Huntsville, Alabama where she attended Chapman Elementary/ Middle School and Lee High School. She obtained a Bachelor
of Science degree from the University of Alabama in Huntsville in 1977. Carolyn lived in Europe, in the country of Luxembourg, for about 4
1/2 years, while her husband was working for NATO.
Carolyn has worked in the social service field off and on since graduation from
college, including the Huntsville Hospital System, Madison County School System, and the Huntsville-Madison County Senior Center.
Although not working while in Europe, Carolyn served on the Board of Directors
for the American Women's Club, edited an expatriate newsletter, and completed
several desktop publishing jobs for the American Embassy in Luxembourg.
After returning to Alabama, she owned and managed a business for over two years. Prior to taking the job at Valley Garden, she worked for 1.5 years at Goodtime Travel in Florence, Alabama where she was involved in planning trip itineraries, publishing the annual travel catalog, and as a tour
leader.
Carolyn has served in numerous volunteer positions with organizations such as
the American Red Cross, Senior Friends, and Meals on Wheels.
Carolyn’s hobbies include reading, ballroom dancing, and travel. She has served as the director of the
Community Network Learning Center since May 2000.
In order to describe her outlook on life, Carolyn chose this quote from Henry Drummond:
"You will find, as you look back upon your life, that the moments when you really lived are the moments when you have done things in the spirit of love."
